While working on a new project, I realized that we required services that our current facility just could not provide. That left me with three different choices:
1. Retrofit the current facility
2. Look for a new facility
3. Colocate our equipment
Unfortunately, options 1 & 2 just didn’t fit my budget, leaving me to explore the many Colocation Service Providers in the Southeast.
During my hunt for a facility, I visited several data centers in the Metro Atlanta and Jacksonville areas and developed a scoring sheet to make an informed, educated decision.
When looking for Colocation services, there are several factors you need to consider. I’ve listed the factors that I used in determining the right provider, and I’ve ranked them in importance to me. Your ranking may differ.
1. Security – First and foremost, you need to be able to sleep easy at night. Look for a facility that matches the security level of the data you are hosting.
