In my daily marketing reading, I came across this article by Brian Goffman in marketingprofs.com, stating his 12 Marketing Predictions for 2012.

Out of his 12 predictions, the one that stuck with me the most was No. 2.

2. Customers and employees will become an extended part of companies’ marketing teams

As social networks are used ever-more frequently for aggregating and sharing interests, expect opinions, positive or negative, about products and services to spread with lightning speed. Would any accountant consider having a business and not establishing a connection with local and regional businesses?  Never handing out a business card or introducing themselves to people who would one day need their services?

In our constantly changing times, shying away from all social media is the networking equivalent to not attending the business cocktail party. Except in this case, the party is hosted by LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, and there are no limitations on time or space.
